Welcome to Interventions in Counseling!

This course will equip you with some of the basic skills you’ll need to successfully engage in professional counseling. Our sincere hope is that this course allows you to faithfully and effectively pursue the purposes for which the Lord made you.

This is a required course for the Substance Abuse Counseling minor and an optional course for Psychology majors and others who might be interested in the topic.

In order to be successful in this course, we suggest the following:

Read the syllabus thoroughly.
Be very proactive with the lessons each week. You should complete the readings and videos by Wednesday of each week at the latest, so that you can fully engage in each discussion forum.
Remember that your original posts for each week’s discussion are due each Wednesday at 11:59 pm. You will only get partial credit if you post after that point. Any posts that are not time-stamped during the week of the forum discussion will get no points. See the discussion page for more details.
If you have questions or struggle with anything for any reason please be proactive in alerting your instructor early, so that if accommodations are needed, they can be implemented in time.
