When it came to television, this year didn't take long to get its act together. Because the content carousel never stops spinning, it's up to you to grab what you want while it's spinning. The first few months of 2022 have provided a dizzying array of premium programs.

Ozark made a major Netflix comeback, Amazon gave us a wonderful glimpse into the lives of three young adults on the autistic spectrum, and ABC (yes, the network) gave us the year's best comedy. If the rest of the year is anything to go by, it won't be whether there'll be any excellent television but whether you'll have the time to see it all.

To keep ahead of the curve, we've compiled a list of the top ten series you should add to your queue. There's no time to waste with a Lord of the Rings spinoff, a third confirmed season of Ted Lasso, and a new episode of The Crown on the way. Here are the ten series in 2022 that we at Market Research Journals think you should be most enthusiastic about.

Peacemaker

The Suicide Squad's lunkheaded want tobe superhero Peacemaker, played by John Cena, kicks out the year with wild action, streaming now on HBO Max.

Peacemaker is a Hard-R, hyperviolent, hypervulgar superhero adventure set in a well-established superhero world, and it's also a component of what we love about the Disney+ series in the MCU. While we don't see Batman or Superman, their friends are constantly mentioned. John Cena's title Peacemaker was introduced (and used to great purpose) in The Suicide Squad, from which Peacemaker is a direct spinoff.

Writer/director James Gunn does an excellent job adapting his world to a new medium, and the cast is all in. Outside of Gunn, Danielle Brooks of Orange Is the New Black, Jennifer Holland as the returning Harcourt, and Freddie Stroma as the utterly mad Vigilante, who is a vigilante, are all standouts.

Pachinko

Pachinko is one of Apple TV+'s greatest swings yet, covering four generations of a Korean immigrant family and based on the hugely acclaimed novel of the same name. So far, it's working—Pachinko is one of the most well-received shows of the year, with even die-hard book lovers compelled to watch. Last year's Academy Award winner Yuh-Jung Youn (from Minari) leads the cast, and the directing and photography are also superb.

Yellowjackets

Yellowjackets is easily one of the most buzzed-about and intriguing plays in recent years, and it was on our 2021 list but ended in 2022. Imagine Lost's intrigue and mystery paired with Lord of the Flies, then mixed with a "then and now" It or Stand By Me vibe, set in 1996. The program boasts outstanding casting across the board, and incredible music and is just a great, great watch, led by Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci (along with their 1996 counterparts). Season 2 of Yellowjackets is on the way, and it can't arrive soon enough.

Moon Knight

Disney Plus is a subscription service that allows Oscar Isaac to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Moon Knight, a superhero with powers derived from an Egyptian god whose numerous personas get in the way of battling crime.

Are you prepared to welcome the chaos? With the debut of anti-hero Mark Spector, better known as Moon Knight — a man dealing with numerous identities and being possessed by ancient moon god Khonshu – Marvel is starting their darkest, wildest chapter yet. We've all been in that situation. Oscar Isaac plays a man who can't tell the difference between his everyday life and his dreams in this film. Isaac is joined by Ethan Hawke as a cult leader-like enemy, giving us a (deliberately bad) English accent for the ages.

Euphoria

Euphoria's beautiful, if not exceedingly stressful, comeback after a long sabbatical proves that the series is not a one-season wonder. Sam Levinson's series, which picks up after Rue's Season One relapse, has moved fast, with Sydney Sweeney putting forth a standout performance. Do you want dicks in the entrance hall? This season has it in spades. Do you want to vomit in a hot tub? That's correct, as well. Then there's the infamous "how long have you been banging Nate Jacobs?". Let's not even talk about the play.

Ozark

Miniseries, new shows, and the occasional long-running favorite appear on many of these "best of" lists, but it's difficult to keep a fresh series season after season. That is what distinguishes Ozark. The series starring Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and the outstanding Julia Garner, now in its fourth season, has continued to reinvent itself and produce some of the best television.

Abbott Elementary

Every time someone claims that the network is dying, a show like Abbott Elementary appears. Quinta Brunson, the half-hour comedy's creator (and performer), isn't aiming to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it keeps things simple, and as a result, it's become one of the year's funniest feel-good shows. It's set in a Philadelphia elementary school and follows a group of primary school teachers who are barely scraping by on the government's meager stipends. It doesn't help that they have a bad principle (well portrayed by Janelle James) in their way practically every turn.

Pam & Tommy

The romance between model/actress Pamela Anderson and musician Tommy Lee (played by Lily James and Sebastian Stan) and the leaking of their sex tape are chronicled in this based-on-a-true-story series. This series, based on a Rolling Stone article from 2014 and is unexpectedly sympathetic and empathetic toward its famous protagonists, also stars Seth Rogen and Nick Offerman.

The Dropout

With The Dropout, the year of the scammer series comes to a close. While WeCrashed is certainly worth watching (more on that later), this series starring Amanda Seyfried as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is exceptional. Not only is it visually appealing (with a genre-appropriate soundtrack and synthy score to match), but Seyfried is joined by co-star Naveen Andrews (Lost), who gives another terrific performance as Sunny Balwani, her professional and romantic companion.

Although those two are the sole main characters throughout the series, guest stars Laurie Metcalf, Stephen Fry, William H. Macy, and Alan Ruck are also excellent in recurrent parts. The Dropout is one of the must-see shows of 2022 because it tells events as they happen while also holding troubled individuals accountable.

Bridgerton Season 2

For the second season of Shondaland's sizzling blockbuster series Bridgerton on Netflix, Lady Whistledown and her glossy world of gossip, gowns, and handsome people are returning. This time around, Jonathan Bailey plays Anthony, and he has his sights set on the new character Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley from Sex Education. Regé-Jean Page, Nicola Coughlan, and Phoebe Dynevor also return, although Regé-Jean Page does not, which is upsetting for admirers of the Duke of Hastings.
